New CEO of Vínbúðin

Þorgerður Kristín Þráinsdóttir has been appointed the new CEO of ÁTVR, starting on September 1st. The announcement was published on the website of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, where it was noted that Þorgerður was selected from a group of nineteen applicants. Þorgerður has served as CEO of the Fríhöfnin Duty Free store since 2014, and previously worked at Lyfja hf., as Director of Stores and Marketing and Human Resources Manager.

Easter opening hours

All Vínbúðin stores will be closed on Holy Thursday (April 17th), Good Friday (April 18th), Easter Sunday (April 20th) and Easter Monday (April 21st).  We advice our customers to avoid rush hours and shop timely for the Easter holiday. Christmas beer available from October 31st

The sale of Christmas beer and other Christmas products will start in Vínbúðin on Thursday, October 31st. Seasonal products are usually eagerly awaited, especially the Christmas products. Around 110 Christmas products are expected be available this year.

ÁTVR among the top nine

In the recently published PwC Sustainability Index 2024, it was reported that ÁTVR was one of the nine companies that managed to demonstrate a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and value chain. In 2018, ÁTVR began to publish information on the product label of most products on vinbudin.is about the estimated carbon footprint of packaging, since packaging accounts for the largest part of the carbon footprint.

Busy week before Commerce day

One of the busiest weeks of the year at Vínbúðin stores is the week before Commerce Day. Every effort is made to welcome customers so that everything goes as smoothly as possible, but for those who want to avoid queues, the best way is to show up at the early part of the week, early in the day! Usually Friday between 16 and 18 is the busiest.
