Busy week before Commerce day

One of the busiest weeks of the year at Vínbúðin stores is the week before Commerce Day. Every effort is made to welcome customers so that everything goes as smoothly as possible, but for those who want to avoid queues, the best way is to show up at the early part of the week, early in the day! Usually Friday between 16 and 18 is the busiest.

Vínbúðin closed on Monday

All Vínbúðin stores are closed on Iceland's National Day, Monday June 17th. More information for each store's opening hours can be found here. 

New store in Álfabakki

Now we have opened a new and improoved store in Álfabakki 6 (next to Garðheimar). Location at Stekkjarbakki has been closed.

Closed on Ascension day

All our stores are closed on Ascension Day, Thursday 9 May. On Wednesday, May 8, most stores will be open as if it were a Friday. In the capital area, it will therefore be open from 11-19, but longer in Dalvegur, Skeifa, Skútuvogur and Álfrún, where it will be open from 10-20.

Closed on May 1st

Vinbudin stores are closed on Wednesday, May 1st, for a public holiday, Labor day.

Vínbúðin Stekkjarbakka closed

Vínbúðin Stekkjarbakka has now closed and we open a new and improoved store in Álfabakki on Tuesday March 7th (next to Garðheimar).

Seven pick up points in addition to Vínbúðin stores

In our Webshop you can order products and have them sent to your nearest Vínbúðin store - free of charge. You can also use the service of same day pickup at our warehouse in Stuðlaháls if you order before 2 pm. In the product list here at vinbudin.is you will find the entire selection of products available, but it is also easy to special order the products that are not in our shelves.

Þorri seasonal beer 2024

Friday, January 26th, marks the beginning of the traditional Icelandic season Þorri. During that time it is custom to get together and eat traditional food, such as meats pickled in sour whey. Usually it is enjoyed with Þorri beer or Brennivín.
