Alcohol is defined by law as food and therefore the recommendations for grocery stores apply to Vínbúðin stores. After the last change in regulations was made, the largest Vínbúðin stores have generally limited the number of customers to 35 and the smaller stores to even fewer at at time. In many Vínbúðin stores in the countryside the maximum number of customers is less than 10 at a time. The two-meter rule is followed in every Vínbúðin store and it is by that rule that the maximum number of customers in each store is determined. In order to meet the wishes of the epidemiological authorities, ÁTVR has decided that the maximum number of customers allowed will be 25.
