Dec. 30th. is usually one of the most busy days of the year. This year this day is on Sunday, so all our stores will be closed by law this day. Therefore, a large number of customers can be expected on Saturday, December 29, and Monday 31st of December.
In the capital area, Akureyri, Reykjanesbær and Selfoss Vinbudin will be open on Friday 28th. till 20, Saturday the 29th. till 19 and till 14 on New Year's Eve. All stores are closed on January 1, but open on January 2nd. We encourage customers to be early on the move if they want to avoid queues and view the opening hours in time. The most busy time can be expected to be between 15 and 18 on Friday and Saturday.
Sales in Vínbúðin from 1 - 24 December is about 3.7% less than in the same period last year, while sales increase by 0.5% over the whole year. Sales of Christmas beer have decreased by 9.7% so far compared to 2017, but there is a considerable increase in sales of sparkling wine, or an increase of 22% from the previous year.
