Reykjavík District Court confirmed ÁTVR's decision to refuse to sell alcoholic caffeinated beverages in its stores. ÁTVR's rejection was based on the law, which states that it is permitted to refuse to sell alcoholic drinks that contain caffeine and other stimulants.

Dista ehf., importer of the drink Shaker Original Alcohol & Caffeine (Shaker) in 330 ml. aluminum can, appealed against ÁTVR's refusal and the Reykjavík District Court rendered a judgment on June 23rd, where ÁTVR's procedure was accepted and it was acquitted of the demands of Dista ehf. Dista ehf. was also ordered to pay 1.7 million in court costs.
