Nordic collaboration

Since 2009 the Nordic state alcohol monopolies, Alko in Finland, Systembolaget in Sweden, Vinmonopolet in Norway, Rúsdrekkasola Landsins in the Faroe Islands and ÁTVR have worked together on ethical principles in the supply chain.

The common goal is to ensure that the products for sale at these companies are produced according to international standards and ethics. The ethics are based on international standards and agreements, such as The Global Compact. The main focus is to use the aforementioned rules as a foundation to correct procedures when needed but not to exclude products unless all other means have been  exhausted.

Alko, Systembolaget and Vinmonopolet, in cooperation with international auditors, annually conduct numerous evaluations on the standings of producers in respect of these ethics and ensure that a plan is made for improvements and follow-up if necessary.

Environmental policy

The collaboration is also on environmental issues. In 2017, the Danish company 2. -0 LCA published a report on the life-cycle assessment of alcoholic beverages. The purpose of the research is to catalogue the total environmental impact of every product group sold at the Nordic state alcohol monopolies.
